What ‘Too many hops’ usually means is that someone has set up e-mail such that it is forwarding between two addresses – a ‘mail loop’ has been set up inadvertently. You should send e-mail to the postmaster at the site (the site is what comes after the @ sign in the person’s e-mail address) and ask if he or she can look into the problem. For example, if you have this problem when
sending mail to johndoe@netcom.com, send a copy of the message to postmaster@netcom.com asking for an investigation of the problem.
