For some reason Windows decided it will go blank on installing the correct driver for my Nexus 7. A few steps had to be completed for this to work.
Enable developer mode
Settings > About tablet > tap build 7 times
Enable usb debugging
Go back to settings and select developer options
Enable usb debugging
Disable MTA and then reconnect the device via usb
Settings > Storage > click the menu option and select usb computer connection
Uncheck MTA and then reconnect the usb drive. Windows should not recognize the device.
