VIM under cygwin :backspace errors,

Strange things were happening when attempting to use vi under cygwin. The arrows were not functioning properly. Backspace was generating the number 8.
We corrected the issue by issuing the following command
cp /usr/share/vim/vim72/vimrc_example.vim ~/.vimrc
- An error has occurred, which probably means the feed is down. Try again later.
